SUMMARY:Five For Fighting with String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:7PM\nLobby doors open: 6PM\nSeating begins: 6:30PM \nTickets: $40 + tax/fees \nComplimentary vouchers are not valid for this performance \n\nThe only way for a story to progress is to turn the page. John Ondrasik— the songwriter and performer known as the platinum- selling\, Grammy-nominated\, Five For Fighting—knows this well. In the two decades since his first major single\, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” hit the stratosphere\, the artist has both evolved and come back ‘round full circle. Creativity\, if nothing else\, is paradoxical. \nTo date\, Five For Fighting\, has released six studio LPs\, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top- 10 charting Two Lights\, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits\, including the chart-topping “100 Years\,” “The Riddle\,” “Chances\,” “World\,” and “Easy Tonight\,” which have earned over one billion streams and place him as a top-10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. The reflective “100 Years” has joined “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” as part of the American Songbook and continues to stand the test of time at weddings\, birthdays\, graduations\, memorials\, and many a home video. Five For Fighting’s music has also been featured in more than 350 films\, television shows\, and commercials\, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side\, Hawaii Five-O\, The Sopranos and the CBS drama\, Code Black. \n\nSupport -Lace and Lee \nLace & Lee is a folk rock duo heavily influenced by the mystical wisdom of 60s and 70s storytelling\, with a twist of humor and bard-like prose. Caroline Lace and Olivia Lee began their musical journey at NYU Tisch\, and have since toured with Five For Fighting. Their ethereal vocals and risky harmonies carry the spirit and charm of Celtic music\, often holding a mirror up to the 21st century.

SUMMARY:Movie: The Librarians presented by Rutland Free Library
DESCRIPTION:No ticket required.\nDoors open at 6:30PM for general admission seating. \nPresented by Rutland Free Library and co-hosted by Phoenix Books. Copies of That Librarian and other frequently banned/challenged books will be available for purchase. \n\nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities. \nIn Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. \nRutland Free Library is hosting this FREE screening ahead of Banned Books week 2026. The film will be followed by a panel discussion including former Vermont Teacher of the Year Karen McCalla\, author Jo Knowles from Authors Against Banned Books\, and at least one other guest TBD. \n

DESCRIPTION:8PM \nLobby doors open: 7PM\nSeating begins: 7PM \nGeneral Admission Tickets: $49 + tax/fees \nOn-sale Friday\, August 21 @ 10AM\nTheatre Member pre-sale Thursday\, August 20 @ 12PM \n\nThe Disco Biscuits are an entirely different band today than they were when they first broke out of Philadelphia in the mid-90s. That’s not to say that they’ve abandoned their foundation\, switched gears or set sail for distant shores. The Disco Biscuits are still very much the pioneers of “trancefusion\,” bridging the gap between electronic music and jam bands. They still remain rock pioneers whose soul belongs as much to marathon dance parties as it does to live improvisational journeys. They still employ emerging technologies to help them create music that is 100 percent human although\, perhaps\, not entirely of this earth.

SUMMARY:Asleep at the Wheel
DESCRIPTION:7PM \nLobby doors open at 6PM \nSeating begins at 6:30PM \nTickets: $35\, $45\, $55\, $95 \n\nFor over fifty years\, Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson has been traversing the globe as an ambassador of Western swing music and introducing its irresistible sound to generation after generation. More than 100 musicians have passed through the Wheel\, but Benson remains the front man and the keeper of the vision\, in the process racking up more than 30 albums\, ten Grammy awards and literally millions of miles on the road. \n“I’m the reason it’s still together\, but the reason it’s popular is because we’ve had the greatest singers and players\,” Benson explains. “When someone joins the band\, I say\, ‘Learn everything that’s ever been done\, then put your own stamp on it.’ I love to hear how they interpret what we do. I’m just a singer and a songwriter\, and a pretty good guitar player\, but my best talent is convincing people to jump on board and play this music.” \nAsleep at the Wheel represents an important cornerstone of American roots music\, even though some of its members and audiences represent a new generation. That far-reaching appeal remains a testament to Benson’s initial vision. \n“It took me 60 years\, but I’m doing what I’m meant to do—singing and playing and writing better than I ever have. A bandleader is just someone who gathers people around them to play the best music they can play. I just try and make the best decisions possible and kick some ass every night onstage.”

SUMMARY:Mavis Staples
DESCRIPTION:7PM \nLobby doors open: 6PM\nSeating begins: 6:30PM \nTickets: $55\, $65\, $75\, $85 + tax/fees \nComplimentary vouchers are not valid for this performance \n\n  \nGrim days call for fierce love. And Mavis Staples\, one of the most enduring figures in American music\, is laying it down. \nNow 86\, Mavis has been performing since the age of eight. After starting out with her father Roebuck “Pops” Staples\, sisters Cleotha and Yvonne\, and brother Pervis in the Staple Singers more than seventy years ago\, she’s the lone surviving member of the group\, still carrying her family’s gifts and knowledge with her as a living heritage. \nInducted into several halls of fame (blues\, rock\, and gospel)\, a Kennedy Center Honoree\, a winner of multiple Grammys (including a Lifetime Achievement award)\, Mavis is our musical history. She’s collaborated with nearly every major figure of her era(s)\, from Dylan to Prince\, Aretha\, and Willie — not to mention countless stars from subsequent generations. \nFew people wield the combination of moral authority and the musical artistry that Mavis possesses. The moral authority comes from experiencing the Jim Crow era as a Black woman playing music in the South. With Freedom Highway\, the Staple Singers created the literal soundtrack for the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery. They opened for Martin Luther King Jr. at his rallies. Mavis has spent a lifetime standing up for those people the most powerful among us would like to beat down. \nShe considered retiring in 2023 but found she has too much left to express through music. And now\, despite our dark days\, as she said in the wake of her 85th birthday party last year\, “You have to stay hopeful and have faith that things are going to get better.” She can’t keep us from the danger facing the country\, or magically restore the progress that’s being undone. But she knows from her own experience that it’s possible to find a path through\, a way to keep going. \nShe may be one of the last true ones standing\, but she’s not waiting around to be revered for the wisdom she brings. She’s too busy still leading the charge\, still showing us how it’s done. Steadfast in triumph and adversity\, Mavis Staples is still making music—and history—just when we need her most.

SUMMARY:Get the Led Out
DESCRIPTION:7:30PM \nLobby doors open: 6:30PM\nSeating begins: 7PM \nTickets: $45\, $55\, $65\, $75 + tax/fees \n\nFrom the bombastic and epic\, to the folky and mystical\, Get the Led Out (GTLO) has captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live\, like you’ve never heard before. Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal\, GTLO recreates the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. When you hear three guitars on the album…GTLO delivers three guitarists on stage. No wigs or fake English accents\, GTLO brings what the audience wants…a high energy Zeppelin concert with an honest\, heart-thumping intensity. \nDubbed by the media as “The American Led Zeppelin\,” Get The Led Out offers a strong focus on the early years. They also touch on the deeper cuts that were seldom\, if ever heard in concert. GTLO also includes a special “acoustic set” with Zep favorites such as “Tangerine” and “Hey Hey What Can I Do.” \nGTLO has amassed a strong national touring history\, having performed at major club and PAC venues across the country\, including eleven straight years of headlining Red Rocks Amphitheater. \nBand Members: Paul Sinclair – Lead Vocals\, Harmonica; Paul Hammond – Electric and Acoustic Guitars\, Mandolin\, Theremin; Tommy Zamp – Electric and Acoustic Guitars\, Vocals; Eddie Kurek – Keyboards\, Guitar\, Vocals\, Percussion; Derek Smith – Drums\, Percussion; Seth Chrisman – Bass\, Vocals

SUMMARY:Judy Collins: Farewell Tour with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:7PM\nLobby doors open: 6PM\nSeating begins: 6:30PM \nTickets: $70\, $90\, $105\, $175 + tax/fees \nComplimentary vouchers are not valid for this performance. \nThis event is made possible through the generous support of Jennifer and Fred Bagley and anonymous donors. \n\nJoin us for a very special evening as we invite Judy Collins to the stage for her FINAL VERMONT PERFORMANCE after nearly seven incredible decades of touring. Adding to the magic of the evening\, The Vermont Symphony Orchestra joins Ms. Collins on stage for what is sure to be the musical event of the year! \nJudy Collins has long inspired audiences with sublime vocals\, boldly vulnerable songwriting\, personal life triumphs\, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s\, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Six decades later\, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work\, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. \nThe award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album\, Wildflowers\, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns\,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music\, won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently\, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright\, Shawn Colvin\, Dolly Parton\, Joan Baez\, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. \nIn 2026\, Collins bids adieu to the road with her “SWEET JUDY BLUE EYES” Farewell Tour\, launching July 4\, 2026 and running through 2027—an expansive final run across North America and beyond that gives audiences one last chance to experience her timeless voice and storytelling live. The tour follows a remarkable recent chapter: six new albums released since 2015\, the artistic renaissance of Spellbound (her first album of all self-penned songs\, nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards)\, and her 2025 poetry collection Sometimes It’s Heaven: Poems of Love\, Loss and Redemption—a vivid extension of the honesty and grace that have defined her enduring legacy.
